In 1975, an 80-year-old kuia named Dame Whina Cooper walked from the Far North to Parliament. At the head of thousands, she declared: “Not one more acre of Māori land.”
It was a line in the sand. A call to protect whenua, whakapapa, and the rights of Māori when too much had already been taken. That hīkoi, the Māori Land March, changed the course of Aotearoa’s history.
Half a century later, her words still echo across the country. This shirt carries them forward, bold across the chest. Not as fashion, but tikanga we want to uphold and never forget. A tāonga from our whanau to yours.
